Sarong Wrap Pants
Who should own sarong wrap pants, otherwise known as wrap around pants? In short, just about everyone. No longer the providence of the hippie generation, this style of pant has grown up and can be worn just about everywhere.
What are sarong wrap pants? They are sewn as one large panel of fabric with tie strings at each end. First, you hold the front panel up to your waist and tie the straps behind you. Then you pull the fabric through your legs, pull the back panel up to waist level, and tie the straps in the front. The leg is created by the overlap of fabric. They are extremely comfortable and have a tailored look with wide legs. If you want to change things up a bit, tie the bottoms at your ankles or below your knees for a different look. Depending on the style of the pant, you may want to add a button to the hip area as they can open in the breeze depending on how much fabric there is to overlap when the pant is tied.
Wrap around pants look good on any body type by creating the illusion of a waist and a false pleat which flatters and hides tummy trouble. The wide leg profile is slimming by draping nicely from the hip.
These pants are perfect if you’re recovering from surgery (or are a new mom) since you can adjust the tightness of the waist easily. They are also good if you’re dealing with sudden weight gain or loss since the pants can adjust to you comfortably, not forcing you to adjust to them. They can be tied so that the pants are a little longer or shorter so you can wear them with heels or flats.
This style is also flexible enough to go from yoga or tai chi to the market. There’s no need to change when you’re done.
Sarong wrap pants are perfect for travel since they take up little space in the suitcase. Depending on the fabric, they could even be wrinkle free (or with minimal wrinkles). They are easy to mix and match with tops, jackets, and shoes. You can easily go from sightseeing to dinner without changing.
